Every unit has the same six steps: try first, learn the method, practise again, read your problem summary, review what you need, and practise every day. You start by answering questions on your own, so you meet the traps before the lecture explains them. When you get one wrong, you pick the reason, and the unit shows you the fix for that reason.
Writing and speaking are not scored by a machine. You get a model answer, a self-check list, and numbers you can count yourself: characters written, Level 4 words used, seconds spoken, points covered. Speaking answers are recorded in your browser and stay on your device.

The new HSK 4 (HSK 3.0), which starts with the 13 December 2026 test. Its written test has 70 questions: 32 listening, 32 reading and 6 writing, plus a speaking test with 5 tasks. The old HSK 4 had 100 questions. If your test is earlier, ask your test centre which format it uses.
